About Iceland
- Iceland is called the Land of Fire and Ice.
- Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and is the northernmost capital in the world.
- The colors in Iceland's flag represents what is is found on the islands-red for the island's volcanic fires, white for snow and ice and blue for surrounding oceans.

- Many animals are found in this island country but a unique is the Icelandic Sheep. Others include Icelandic cows, Icelandic horses and Icelandic sheepdogs.
- Iceland has a temperate climate. During winter, sunlight is rare. But in summer there can be days with 24 hours of sunlight.
- The land is covered with icefields, glaciers and geysers, with or coastline marked with fjords. Fjords are deep inlets carved by glacier and more than 20 active volcanoes are found here. The centre of the island has a large volcanic plateau.
