People celebrate February 18th as Pangolin Day. It is because these animals are dying easily.

  • Pangolins are mammals.
  • They are hard shelled, hunted in endangered mammals often called the scaly anteater.
  • Mostly Pangolins found in across Asia and South of the Sahara Desert in Africa, they weigh as much as 11.6 kgs to 33 kgs. 
  • They may be yellowish brown, to dark olive and brown .

  • Suprisingly their underbellies are coated with a thick fur instead of scale. 
  • Pangolins are nocturnal animals which means they a awake and bury during the night and are solitary. 
  • Pangolins are belong to the same family as dogs, cats and bears though they look like armadillos, sloths or anteaters. 
  • A Pangolins scaly exterior covering head to foot is built like a coat of armour.

  • Pangolin live in burrows that are big enough for a person to climb into and stand up in. 
  • A Pangolin's tongue is and at times is longer than its whole body. It is covered with a sticky slime which it uses to catch ants or termites. 
  • Pangolins do not have teeth, have a poor eyesight and a good sense smell .
